Steve Irwin Day - 2009

(November 15, 2009)

In honor of Steve Irwin Day, we accompanied a group of friends to the Challenge Discovery course again to take part in a few team-building exercises....

Our first challenge was aboard our tiny raft in the middle of a sea of leaves...the goal was to get our raft to a lighthouse (that doesn't work) and use our beacons (that happen to be underneath the raft) to place in the lighthouse so we can signal for help!

Being stuck on a raft with awesome people was GREAT!

Next up, we attempted to cross Snot River (yup, Snot River) using 3 boards, a few stumps and our own balance....

Next up was climbing!

I give you the coolest repel high-five ever...courtesy of Jody and Sara...

Next up was the trust-wire.  The wires get farther and farther apart as you go.  You and your partner need to push equally as hard to maintain the hold.  Ultimately, you should both look like superman by the end...

jody pushing me, me pushing jody....it worked!

Next up, the infamous....North Pole...

You climb this extremely tall pole and have to stand up on it and then shuffle around to face a trapeze like bar...then you have to take a leap of faith (literally)...

finding my balance....it definitely didn't help that the pole actually wobbled...

I wasn't successful when I made my leap of faith...but it was still an incredible rush!

All in all, a fantastic Steve Irwin Day!
